BGR Pump House will Start to Operate in January

Construction of BGR pump house that is located near BGR River on Kelapa Gading Barat Urban Village, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta has been completed. According to plan, this pump house will start to operate in January 2020.

Now, we can use this pump to drain the water into Sunter River on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan

North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-department Head, Adrian Mara Maulana stated, pump house construction has been started since June 2019. This project includes rebuilding two bridges on Jalan Bukit Gading Raya located above BGR River and pump foundation.

"Before there is a pump, we drain the water through Betik River before it flows to Sunter River. Now, we can use this pump to drain the water into Sunter River on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan," he explained, Saturday (12/28).

This pump house construction project, he continued, also includes deepening the long storage and rebuilding two bridges using 6 culvert boxes with size 2.5 meters each.

According to him, those bridges were rebuilt because its height was feared that it would hamper the water flow and cause the garbage to be stuck. Moreover, those bridges were also equipped with sidewalk and railing.

This pump house is expected to prevent inundation on Jalan Bukit Gading Raya, Boulevard Barat and Jalan Raya Gading Kirana.

Technically, he added, there are two stationer pumps with capacity of 2,000 liters per second and two mud pumps with capacity of 250 liters per second that will be used to drain the standing water into Sunter River.

"We are currently recruiting the pump operators and target to operate the pump house in January," he asserted.
